Going door to door selling is hard work. However when the person doing it is ten years old then it is certainly a great achievement and a good way to raise funds for an upcoming Scout Project. Angela has a Dream to participate in a Scouting Project in Timor Leste. She needs to raise about $3,000. However she is committed and has spent the weekend selling chocolates door to door in our area.
I watched her go through the ups and downs in the process. She handled rejection, rudeness and knocked on many doors with no one home. There were the successes too. She sold many chocolates and lollies. However, the most important thing for me was to watch her grow in character and also develop business skills.
As I walked around with her and observed her knocking on doors, it got me thinking about when as a child I used to fundraise going door to door. I look forward to fundraising further with Angela as she heads closer to the Timor Leste Project. I am a proud Dad, as I watch her grow and develop through this process.
